Serin, Empowering charities, CICs, & small businesses

Websites for charities, CICs and community groups

A good website helps funders, partners and the people you support understand what you do in seconds, and many funders look at it before deciding on an application. We build simple, accessible websites for small organisations.

We use a mix of design and modern AI platforms to build quickly and keep prices fair, and our team checks and tests everything. Search optimisation is built in from the very first page, not added afterwards.

How it works

  1. 1Tell us what you need.
  2. 2We agree the scope and price in writing.
  3. 3You pay 50% up front, so we can set up your account and load it with the credits the build needs.
  4. 4We build it, and you give feedback, with up to three rounds of changes.
  5. 5You pay the balance when the site is finished, we hand over the logins, and we run your training session.

In every package

  • Copy drafted for you from your Serin profile if you have one, or a short questionnaire, then edited by a person.
  • A design that works on phones, tablets and computers, loads quickly and is built to WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility.
  • A contact form, privacy and cookie pages, and secure HTTPS.
  • Built in your own account. We set it up in your name and pay the platform costs during the build, then hand it over with your logins and a 30 to 60 minute training session. You don't take out any subscription until handover, and the domain name is registered in your name.
  • A handover guide so you can make simple updates yourselves.

Search ready from day one

Keyword research for your main pages, a unique title and description on every page, clear headings, structured data describing your organisation, a sitemap, quick loading, compressed images with descriptions, accessible design, Search Console and analytics set up (switched on only after cookie consent), and a request for Google to index your pages as soon as you launch.

We can't promise where you'll appear in search results, but you'll start with the foundations in place.

How a build usually runs

We start with a short conversation about who your website is for and what you want people to do when they arrive: get in touch, volunteer, donate, or simply understand your work. If you use Serin, much of what we need is already in your profile, so there's less to fill in.

We then draft the words and a first version of the design, share it with you, and make your rounds of changes. Before launch a person tests every page on a phone and a computer, checks links and forms, and runs accessibility checks. After launch we're on hand for the support period in your package.

After your site goes live

We build your website in your own account, which we set up in your name and pay for during the build. When it's finished and every change is agreed, we remove our payment details, give you the logins and a 30 to 60 minute training session, and you take over. After handover you can look after it yourself (you pay the website platform's plan directly), or let us look after it as part of SEO management from £160 a month (you still pay the platform directly), or £180 a month, where we look after the platform subscription for you too.

Questions

Do we own the website?
Yes. It's built in your own account, and the website and your domain name are yours.
How do I pay?
50% when you accept the quote, so we can set up your account and load it with the credits the build needs, and the balance when the site is finished, before handover.
Who pays the website platform's monthly cost?
We do during the build, and you don't need a subscription until handover. After that you pay it directly, unless you choose our £180 a month option, which covers it. We'll tell you the current cost in your quote.
Is there a discount for Serin subscribers?
Yes, 10% off the price of a website build. Monthly charges aren't discounted. You don't need a subscription to buy a website.
Can a grant pay for it?
Many funders cover websites and digital costs, as part of a project or core costs. Check each fund's guidance.
Was it built by AI?
It's built with a mix of design and modern AI platforms, and checked, edited and tested by our team.
Who builds it?
Serin, with our trusted delivery partner, Local Growth Engine. It's built with a mix of design and modern AI platforms, and checked, edited and tested by people.
Can we update it ourselves?
Yes. We'll show you how in your training session.
Do we need a Serin subscription?
No.
What if I'm not happy with something?
You can ask for up to three rounds of changes. If we've got something wrong, we'll put it right without using up a round. We'll always talk it through and be fair.
